Cost Accountant/Accounting Specialist

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for performing tasks required to support the Controller and the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/HR Manger in their day to day, monthly, and annual tasks.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Directly responsible for
    1. Assisting in the month end closing process including journal entry preparation, job cost analysis, and financial statement preparation
    2. Assisting the Credit Manager in the collection process of accounts receivable.
    3. Assisting in the weekly schedule to process invoices for payment by check, credit card, or ACH.
    4. Generating and reviewing monthly reports for management.
    5. Assisting with the preparation for annual financial audits.
    6. Reconciling bank statements to general ledger.
    7. Assisting the Controller in reviewing and reconciling all balance sheet accounts on  monthly, quarterly, annual basis.
    8. Preparing excel spreadsheets as required by management to measure progress or assist in improving profitability or reducing working capital.
    9. Assisting the Controller in ensuring compliance with internal accounting procedures.
  2. Interact with INFOFLO users and assist with questions that arise from transaction-related issues.

Communicate inside and outside the organization with suppliers, vendors, and customers as needed.

Special Location/Position Requirements:
This position will be located in Attalla, Alabama.  This job requires a basic understanding of GAAP accounting principles and a basic understanding of any ERP products is preferred.
Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.)
1.  1-3 years of cost accounting experience

2.  3-5 years of general accounting experience.

3.  3-5 years of experience working with accounts payable and accounts receivable. Payroll    knowledge will be a plus.

4.       Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.

5.       Office environment, with frequent use of computers

6.       Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task

7.       Strong attention to detail & ability to prioritize critical tasks
Education Requirements:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
