Buyer – Attalla
Job Summary |
The primary function of the Attalla Buyer is to process purchase orders, negotiate with suppliers, track orders, create and maintain our inventory levels to desired levels, assuring quality product from our suppliers. The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand. This will involve working with inventory teams, our supervisors, and management to support and provide updates as needed on product delivery. The Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous. |
Principal Duties and Responsibilities |
1. Manage ERP process to generate demand requirements and purchase requisitions
2. Generate PO’s for raw materials, outside services, MRO requirements, and Capital purchases
7. Negotiate pricing and terms as needed

Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.) |
1. Able to work efficiently with attention to detail
2. Able to use multiple means of communication (email, phone, etc.) to place orders and manage delivery 3. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP is a big plus) 4. Experience in purchasing and managing suppliers 5. Familiarity with Material Pull Systems 6. Experience in an office environment, with frequent use of and proficiency with computers 7. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, generate plans of action, multi-task, and problem solve

Education Requirements: |
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience |
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions: |
This job requires minimal travel and a daily on-site presence in Attalla, AL. Normal manufacturing plant office conditions and occasional travel may be required to meet with suppliers. Job demands may require long periods of sitting, telephone work, and/or computer work, as well as interaction with other people. Normal office conditions include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, driving, and/or traveling. |
